High-End Vinyl & Hardwood Flooring: How It’s Made Matters Most

Learn the Difference Between High-End Vinyl and Hardwood Flooring

Across all industries, consumers should be aware that there are almost always going to be products that claim to be “high-end” but really aren’t. This distinction is especially important to keep in mind when shopping for high-end flooring systems — both vinyl and hardwood.

A high-end vinyl or wood flooring product doesn’t just look like any other flooring product either. A higher-end product is a clearer product; one in which the quality of design shines through clearly. A high-end vinyl flooring system is exactly what it sounds like — it is flooring made of quality material that is both highly durable and functional. When it comes to hardwood, which has always been associated with high-end flooring but is now feasible for nearly any setting and budget, you’re getting a timeless look that is perfect for any space.

How It’s Made Matters

The difference in high-end vinyl flooring and all the other conventional flooring systems has everything to do with how it’s created. At Parterre, a leader in crafting LVT flooring, we utilize a heat infused technology known as the hot press method. This method entails a baking process that offers a hands-on approach that provides greater clarity, durability and stability to a flooring system. It uses the application of high heat and pressure to layers to fuse them together.

For our hardwood flooring lines, especially our Deeply Rooted collection, the craftsmanship and attention to detail are second to none. By sourcing the most unique cuts of hardwood, this high-end flooring is perfect for any environment that you want to add a feeling of luxury to.

Layers Improve Lifespan

For high end LVT flooring specifically the joining of layers creates a tighter bond, providing a more stable product that is less prone to reshaping and resizing. Our premium LVT flooring is created using three layers of backing. But before these layers are fused together in the hot press method mentioned earlier, each layer is rotated to create a locking system among the directional grains. We pay careful attention to the selection and application of the wear layer. The high temperature of the hot press method allows the wear layer to preserve its clarity to assure the window to design is kept pristine.

With engineered hardwood flooring, a thin layer of hardwood is bonded on top of a plywood subfloor. This adds another layer of support, and saves on cost compared to solid hardwood flooring.

Design Enhances Durability

When it comes to high-end vinyl flooring, the hot press method is a proven process that creates a high quality and distinctive look — but it also enhances durability. Flooring designs live longer with Parterre. Beyond our high performance, we have the flexibility to revive designs as trends change to match existing, previously installed Parterre flooring.

Consider the following analogy, illustrating how customers should perceive high-end flooring systems versus the conventional competition.

A cookie-lover has a choice between getting their favorite baked goods at a bakery or selecting the store-bought cookies that are run through factories every single day. The cookies from a bakery are made using quality ingredients and unique baking method, while the run of the mill store-bought cookies are churned through machines like any other generic product. The difference between the two is immeasurable.

At Parterre, our production method allows us to tailor and make variations to our products, proving that no job is out of our reach. Choose among different hardwood species or LVT patterns and pair with textures and embossing to create a seamless design to match your space. Contact us today to see the difference.
